Central Great Bay Recent Measurements
The Great Bay sonde is deployed from a buoy in mid Great Bay. A datasonde measures depth, dissolved oxygen, oxygen saturation, pH, conductivity, salinity, temperature, and turbidity.
The buoy derives power from an array of 3 solar panels that recharge a set of batteries. An onboard data acquisition system controls and operates the sensors to conduct measurements. A 900 mhz spread spectrum telemetry system transmits the environmental data to the base station at Jackson Estuarine Laboratory.
